BUFFALO, N.Y., April 9, 2008 – Appeal 2008 in support of Catholic Charities of Buffalo reached the $10 million mark as of Wednesday morning. A total of $10,017,301.05 has been received in cash and pledges toward the campaign’s $11.2 million goal. The current total represents 89.4 percent of goal.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Catholic Charities of Buffalo officials announced that another $883,546 has been collected in cash and pledges in support of Appeal 2008 since March 16, edging the total close to $10 million. The current total is actually $9,838,221.37or 87.8 percent of the $11.2 million goal.

AMHERST, NY - The second annual dodgeball tournament to benefit Catholic Charities Appeal 2008 was held Friday, March 14 at Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart in Amherst with 16 teams (composed of 4 boys and 4 girls each) competing, as well as a challenge game of Sacred Heart Academy (SHA) faculty versus members of the Catholic Charities Appeal team.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Appeal 2008 for Catholic Charities of Buffalo raised $8,954,647.71 in cash and pledges as of Sunday night, which represents 79.9 percent of its record-setting $11.2 million goal, Catholic Charities’ officials announced. With the totals received as of 8 p.m. on Palm Sunday, the Appeal needs $2,245,352.29 to reach goal.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Catholic Charities Appeal 2008 leaders announced that this year’s Appeal has so far raised $6,607,974.41 or 58.9 percent of its $11.2 million goal. Totals to date were announced at a news conference Sunday evening at Catholic Charities’ home office on Washington Street.

DUNKIRK, N.Y. – About 60 parish workers, clergy and volunteers from Chautauqua County participated in a luncheon and volunteer training workshop Saturday at The White Inn, 52 East Main St., Fredonia. The annual event was held in preparation for the 2008 Appeal for Catholic Charities, which carries a goal of $11.2 million.

BATAVIA, N.Y. – About 60 parish workers, clergy and volunteers from Genesee, Orleans & Wyoming counties participated in a luncheon and volunteer training workshop Saturday at Bohn’s Restaurants & Lounge, 5256 Clinton St. The annual event was held in preparation for the 2008 Appeal for Catholic Charities, which carries a goal of $11.2 million.

OLEAN, N.Y. – About 65 parish workers, clergy and volunteers from Allegany and Cattaraugus counties took part in a luncheon and volunteer training workshop Saturday at The Old Library restaurant in Olean. The annual event was held in preparation for the 2008 Appeal for Catholic Charities, which carries a goal of $11.2 million.

DEPEW, NY – About 325 Catholic Charities’ volunteers, parish workers, clergy and staff heard from a mother who found resources and support as she worked to escape domestic violence from her abusive husband. Through counseling and a 10-week Resiliency Enhancement Program at Catholic Charities, Marie* (not her real name)* and her children ultimately escaped their situation, and she shared her story tonight at the annual Appeal Kick-off Dinner at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. Like they do annually, Erie County Appeal volunteers gathered to celebrate and prepare for the 2008 Catholic Charities Appeal, already underway. Target dates for 2008 are Appeal week, March 9-16.
