BUFFALO, NY – The 2010 Appeal in support of Catholic Charities has reached the $10 million mark with about three weeks to go until the close of the human service agency’s fiscal year, Catholic Charities’ officials announced today. Now less than one-half million dollars away from the goal set in January, the annual campaign is at 95.7 percent of goal and has received contributions of $10,046,728.61 in cash and pledges.

Sister Mary McCarrick, Catholic Charities diocesan director, said the figure was a welcome mark to achieve.

“Ten million dollars is a significant number for this campaign and one we are grateful to reach at this time,” said Sister Mary. “The efforts of hundreds of volunteers and more than 62,500 generous donors have brought us to this point. All further efforts and contributions to narrow the gap to our final goal will be most appreciated.”

Pledges and donations for the 2010 Appeal are accepted up until June 30, the end of the organization’s fiscal year. In addition to donating through Diocese of Buffalo parishes, contributions can be made directly to Catholic Charities at 741 Delaware Ave., Buffalo; by calling 716-218-1400 or via the organization’s secure website at www.ccwny.org. The goal of the 2010 Appeal is $10.5 million and the Appeal is under the patronage of Saint Damien.
