Funding and Administration

ProjecTruth is made possible by a federal grant through the the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administation for Children and Families Community-Based Abstinence Education (CBAE) Program. The federal government has recognized the need to explore alternatives to "traditional" sex education programs and has funded programs that provide support to public and private entities for the development of community-based abstinence until marriage education projects. ProjecTruth has reached more than 40,000 teens in more than 120 schools and community sites across Western New York since its inception in 2001.

Catholic CharitiesAs the most comprehensive direct human services provider in Western New York, Catholic Charities of Buffalo is uniquely qualified to develop and implement
the ProjecTruth program. Serving the eight counties of Western New York since 1923, Catholic Charities provides counseling, services for children and families, mental health services, substance abuse prevention and treatment, anti-domestic violence programming, emergency services, education, and job training, among other social services. Catholic Charities applied for the CBAE grant and was selected from among hundreds of other organizations based on its qualifications and experience.
